Samantha Capell is a jazz vocalist, composer, and educator from Pelorus, New Zealand. She received her bachelor’s degree from Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA), and then transferred to the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where she is working on the final year of her Master’s Degree in Studio Jazz and Performance.

Samantha has performed on five continents, and worked with such artists as Greta Matassa, Johnaye Kendrick, and Cyrille Aimee. She has had her original music arranged and performed by the Seattle Philharmonic, and enjoys introducing pop tunes to harmonic concepts native to jazz.

This year, Samantha has been listening to Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band, the Errol Rackipov Group, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Ray Brown, and Julie London. Samantha looks forward to sharing her expertise with CAP students.
