Sophia Garas

Voice and Piano Teaching Artist

Sophia Garas is a vocalist, pianist, and composer from Hudson, New Hampshire. She is currently studying jazz voice at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. She is passionate about jazz but also enjoys many genres, from growing up listening to the music of The Beatles, James Brown, Sam Cooke, and Marvin Gaye.

Sophia has performed and composed for a diverse array of settings. She is experienced in accompanying, having worked as a professional accompanist for various choirs and soloists. She has also worked in wind composition. She commissioned two works for concert band at her high school, and has composed many other works for large ensembles. She also performed with New Hampshire’s All State ensembles in large classical choirs, small chamber ensembles, and in jazz choirs. She received three times the title of top scoring soprano in the state for jazz voice.

Sophia loves all facets of music. She also loves roller skating, art, and spending time with her friends. You can usually find her skating around her college campus with friends – when she is not performing or composing.
