Leah Rutherford

Voice and Piano Teaching Artist

Leah Rutherford was born and raised in Greenville, SC where she began singing at a young age with her father. Leah commenced voice and piano lessons at 7, and started to perform professionally at age 14.

Leah attends the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. There, she is in her third year of study for a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance under Kate Reid.

Throughout her high school years, Leah was a student at South Carolina’s first arts education high school, The Fine Arts Center. There, she studied voice in a variety of genres including jazz, pop, RnB, musical theater, and classical.

Leah’s talent and dedication have earned her many notable recognitions, including two DownBeat Student Music Awards and the title of a 2024 YoungArts Winner with Distinction. Throughout her performing career, Leah has appeared at notable venues including the Peace Center for Performing Arts, the New World Center, and the Greenville Jazz Fest. She has sung alongside such artists as Jeff Hamilton, Sean Jones, The New York Voices, Etienne Charles, and Marcus King.

Leah’s passion for her artistry as a performer is equally reflected in her work as an educator, where she instructs students of varying skill levels and musical backgrounds. She firmly believes that a well-rounded music or arts education supports students in many aspects of their lives. With this, Leah enthusiastically helps students to achieve their goals and to develop their voices as musicians.
