Richard Tijerino

Violin Teaching Artist

Richard Tijerino has played the violin since the age of seven. He is a graduate of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where he studied with Professor Karen Lord-Powell.

At the University of Miami, Richard also participated in Miami Jam Sessions, a music therapy socialization group and mentoring program for neurodivergent teens and young adults. As a music educator, Richard believes that music has the power to transform lives, inspire growth, and foster deep emotional connections. His philosophy centers on the idea that any individual possesses musical talent.

Richard’s teaching is guided by a deep passion for music and the art of teaching. His goal is to foster a learning environment that challenges and supports students. To create a place where students can express themselves through sound – while developing healthy technique, exploring their creative potential, and having fun.
