Reggie Liao
Piano Teaching Artist

Reggie Liao is a Chinese pianist whose journey reflects both artistic excellence and remarkable resilience. He first gained recognition in China at a young age, when he won First Prize in the Pearl River Piano Competition (Gansu Province, 2000), followed by the Excellent Prize in the Xinghai National Competition (2002), and First Prize at the Tsinghua University Winter Camp National Keyboard Competition (2008).
In 2008, Reggie moved to the United Kingdom and pursued new academic paths. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a Master’s Degree in Fashion Management. During this time, he stepped away from piano and explored a completely different professional direction.
In 2019, driven by a renewed passion for music, Reggie made a bold return to the piano. Within ten months, he rebuilt his technique and prepared a full-performance repertoire that demonstrated extraordinary discipline and dedication. His efforts culminated in 2022, with a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Mannes School of Music.
Currently, Reggie pursues a Doctor of Musical Arts within the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. There, he studies with Santiago Rodriguez.
