Ludwig Afonso

Percussion/Drums Instructor

Ludwig Afonso obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Music and Jazz Performance from the University of Miami Frost School of Music in May 2002. Shortly after, Ludwig moved to New York and began performing and touring with Spyro Gyra. He appeared on their Grammy-nominated CD Wrapped in a Dream, as well as Grammy-nominated recordings The Magician by Sammy Figueroa, Hector Martignon’s Second Chance and The Rodrigues Brothers Impromptu. Ludwig has also performed with Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, Joe Locke, Sadao Watanbe, Mark Murphy, Dave Valentine, Yosvanny Terry, Martin Bejerano, Manuel Valera, The Rodriguez Brothers, and Paquito D’ Rivera.

Ludwig is currently working with various artists such as Eldar Djangirov, Richard Bona and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
