Eric Eakes

Eric Eakes earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Viola Performance from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami under the tutelage of his friend and mentor, Jodi Levitz. Eric graduated summa cum laude; his doctoral research culminated in a dissertation on contextual intonation and musical tuning systems. While studying at the Frost School of Music, Eric worked as the Personnel and Operations Manager of the Henry Mancini Institute, the premiere graduate orchestra in residence at the School, and as the assistant to the Artistic Coordinator of the Frost Stamps Ensembles.
Based in Miami, Eric enjoys an active and vibrant career as a performer, teacher, recording artist, and artistic content consultant. He has performed with internationally recognized artists and composers including John Williams, Quincy Jones, Estelle, Andrea Bocelli, Jorge Mejia, Ben Folds, Jon Secada, Garth Knox, Take 5, and Midori. Eric loves working as a recording artist and has recorded for multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy award winning albums.
When he is not performing, Eric enjoys sharing his experiences with eager minds and helping students build the tools needed to achieve their artistic and career goals. In addition to his performance and teaching schedule, Eric works as an artistic consultant in order to help musicians explore topics such as recording professional audio, video, and branding.
