Emma Hedrick

Voice & Piano Instructor

Emma Hedrick is an award-winning, vocalist, composer, and arranger. The Indianapolis native is currently studying vocal jazz performance at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, under the direction of Dr. Kate Reid.

In 2021, Emma was awarded with the title of Presser Scholar, a prestigious academic and music based scholarship funded by the Presser Foundation. She received her third and fourth Downbeat Student Music Awards (Outstanding Performance) at the University of Miami as a part of the Frost Jazz Vocal I ensemble in 2020, and as an Undergraduate Vocal Jazz Soloist in 2021. In 2019, Emma was a finalist in the International Ella Fitzgerald Vocal Competition where she placed third.

Emma had the honor of performing in the Telluride All-Stars Ensemble at the Telluride Jazz Festival in Colorado in 2018. She was the selected vocalist for the Aspen Summer JAS Academy directed by Christian McBride in 2020. At just 21 years old, Emma has also headlined at various venues including Indy Jazzfest (NextCon) and The Jazz Kitchen.

Emma has taught both privately, as a TA for the Miami Children’s Chorus Young Contemporary and Contemporary choirs, and for the Butler Jazz Camp in Indianapolis. Emma hopes to inspire all of her students to create through music.
