Voice, Piano and Songwriting Teaching Artist
Alexandria Carrington is a contemporary vocalist, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist. At the University of Miami Frost School of Music, she studies Modern Artist Development and Entrepreneurship with minors in songwriting and music industry.
Alexandria has trained in classical voice for almost a decade and has experience in jazz, musical theater, and popular music. Throughout high school, she participated in and won many statewide classical voice competitions. Now, she is a nationally recognized singer-songwriter, winning competitions such as Regina Taylor’s Black Album Mixtape Artist Award and being a 2021 YoungArts finalist alongside alumni including Viola Davis, Timothée Chalamet, and Nicki Minaj. She is currently recording her debut EP for release in 2023!
Alexandria chooses to share her musical knowledge with young students, so that in the future they can change the music industry for the better. Rather than simply learning notes and rhythms, she aims to help young students grow into well-rounded musicians and people. Students gain confidence performing and analyzing a wide variety of music while having fun. Alexandria stands for inclusion and open-mindedness in both music and life, and hopes to pass this on to her students.
