Aaron Bissoondial

Guitar Teaching Artist

Aaron Bissoondial is from Wayne, New Jersey. He fell in love with Blues music at a young age. He was the third-place winner in the Blues category of the 2019 International Wilson Guitar Competition and Festival in Milwaukee, WI. Other awards include Outstanding Soloist at the West Milford Jazz Festival and the Livingston Jazz Festival.

Aaron had the privilege of attending the Manhattan School of Music Pre-college, and is a recent graduate from the jazz program at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. There, he received a Presidential Scholarship.

Aaron’s love for gospel and blues styles features the use of bottleneck slide guitar, combined with a passion for the jazz tradition, to create a unique sound. He holds the blues in the highest regard, and believes it is the most honest music there is. However, Aaron also finds great inspiration in folk songwriting of the 1960s, as well as the sonic possibilities explored in 90s alternative rock, including groups like Pixies and Pavement.

Recently, Aaron played back-up guitar for artists such as Azealia Banks, and plays tracks guitar whenever needed. Aaron also releases and performs music with his group Damn Janis.
