Instructor3Jamila Tekalli, an American pianist of Japanese and Libyan descent, has dazzled audiences all across Florida and beyond with her impeccable technical command and profound musical expression. Winner of many awards including the Music Teachers National Association Baldwin Piano Competition, national finalist in the MTNA Yamaha Piano Competition, and finalist in the Junior Division at the 1995 Stravinsky Awards International Piano Competition, Jamila stands out wherever she performs.

Jamila has performed in master classes with noted pianists such as Boris Slutsky, Julian Martin, Marc Durand, Andre La Plante and Frederic Chiu. She has participated and performed in various festivals including Bowdoin International Festival, Young Artist Piano Program at Tanglewood, Keyboard Festival in Banff, Canada and the International Keyboard Institute of Mannes College in New York City. Orchestral engagements have taken her to the Space Coast Symphony, where she has recently performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

Jamila received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. There, she was a scholarship recipient of the School of Music Dean’s Award and a Friends of Music scholar. As the Concerto Competition winner at Indiana University, she performed Franz Liszt’s Totentanz with the Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra. She holds a Master’s degree in Performance from the University of Central Florida. Currently, Jamila is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate and Teaching Assistant at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where she studies with Professor Tian Ying,
