Payton Bryk
Saxophone & Flute Teaching Artist
Payton Bryk is an inventive musician from the Chicagoland area. He began studying piano at the age of six, picked up the saxophone at twelve, and later expanded his artistry to include flute and clarinet upon entering the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Music Engineering at the Frost School of Music, where he studies saxophone under Marcus Strickland.
Throughout high school and college, Payton has performed at nationally-recognized venues. These include the Jazz Showcase and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, sharing the stage with acclaimed artists such as Jason Moran, Sean Jones, Jaleel Shaw, Tia Fuller, Vincent Gardener, and Dee Alexander.
Since 2024, Payton has been presenting his own projects at local venues in both Chicago and Miami. Deeply influenced by the soulfulness of Chicago’s music and the playfulness of Miami’s music, Payton brings these qualities into his work as both a performer and educator. He strives to inspire his students not only to develop their musicianship, but to also understand the history of jazz and its relevance in today’s world.
