Nathan Hott

Saxophone, Flute, & Trombone Teaching Artist

Nathan Hott is a versatile woodwind doubler from Bel Air, Maryland. Currently, he is a Frost School of Music at the University of Miami Henry Mancini Institute Fellow. There, he distinguishes himself through artistry, leadership, and a deep commitment to musical excellence across jazz, classical, and contemporary idioms.

Nathan is a graduate of Shenandoah University, and a licensed K–12 music educator. He brings a pedagogical foundation to his work that complements his extensive professional experience.

Nathan’s dynamic career bridges performance, education, and military musicianship. He is a decorated musician, and has earned honors from the U.S. Army School of Music and Shenandoah Conservatory, where he received awards for jazz leadership and performance.

Nathan has performed with an impressive roster of internationally acclaimed artists, including Terell Stafford, Sean Jones, Ravi Coltrane, Veronica Swift, Patti Austin, Vince Mendoza, and Maria Schneider. His work with the Grammy-nominated Frost School of Music Jazz Orchestra further highlights his versatility and command across the woodwind family.

In addition to his civilian career, Nathan serves as a musician in both the Virginia and Florida National Guard Bands, where he contributes to ceremonial, concert, and jazz ensemble performances that support military and community missions.

Equally at home on stage, in the classroom, and in service, Nathan Hott continues to build a multifaceted career defined by musical depth, and professional discipline. All of this with an unwavering dedication to the craft of performance.
