Sten Greifer

Drums Teaching Artist

Sten Greifer is a drummer and composer from Silver Spring, MD. He currently attends the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. There, Sten studies jazz drum set with Dafnis Prieto to fulfill a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Industry.

At age 14, Sten attended the Jazz Academy of Music summer program led by D.C.-area saxophonist Paul Carr. This sparked Sten’s interest to study jazz seriously, and to pursue a career in music. Some of his influences include jazz greats such as Chick Corea, Miles Davis, and Thelonious Monk, as well as Hermeto Pascoal, Pat Metheny, Joel Ross, and Tigran Hamasyan, among others.

Sten looks to continue playing music professionally, with a wide variety of musicians and in a broad span of genres throughout his career. As a passionate supporter of the performing arts, he is also interested in the areas of live music and venue management.

Sten’s life goal is to create a positive impact in communities and individuals with his music, and to help other artists share their music.
